Our NHS charity break target in Edale Skyline Challenge

NHS staff from across Lincolnshire have completed a gruelling 20-mile challenge to walk around the Edale Skyline to raise funds for Lincolnshire NHS Charity.

The team of 54 colleagues from Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) and Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) battled not only the challenging terrain, but also heavy rain, to raise funds for their charity to support staff wellbeing.

The Edale Skyline Challenge is a demanding, circular hiking route in the Peak District, following the high-level skyline around the Edale Valley. The challenge involved significant ascent and navigation over challenging areas like bogs and rocky paths.

The team raised an incredible final total of £5,285 following the challenge on Saturday, 9 May, exceeding their original fundraising target of £5,000.

Jade Shucksmith, a Mental Health Practitioner at LPFT, said: "The views were amazing. It was a tough day, particularly when the heavens opened, but onwards we all went and what an achievement. Our guides were brilliant at keeping us going and laughing throughout.”

Lincolnshire NHS Charity provides the little extras that make a big difference to patients and staff that aren’t normally funded through the NHS. The money raised through this challenge will support staff wellbeing projects across LPFT and LCHS. This will include exercise equipment, workshops for teams and additional equipment for driving in bad weather, for staff who work out in the community.
