Langworth ward flower appeal

Our charity supported Langworth Ward, a local dementia ward, to enable patients with dementia, to continue with their gardening activities in the summer months in a safe manner. 

Langworth Ward at Witham Court in Lincoln cares for people dementia, with highly complex needs. Activity coordinators on the ward engage patients to participate in basic 'do it yourself' tasks, however it is often too difficult for them to take part in gardening without causing damage to plants or putting themselves at risk. Working alongside the activity coordinators we created a campaign to encourage volunteers and members of the public to create knitted or crocheted flowers which could be attached to a stem and 'planted' in the courtyard area outside the ward.  

The ward received over 50 beautifully handmade flowers of all shapes, sizes and colours. Patients on the ward also got involved with securing the flowers to the stems and arranged them in vases whilst they were waiting to be planted outside in the courtyard.
