The peer support group in Stamford is an additional source of support available for all previous and current service users of the community mental health teams.
Our charity has been helping the group to raise funds and organise fun and engaging activities for a number of years.
Meeting weekly in a local community space, the Stamford Peer Support Group are a self-funding additional source of support for many current and previous service users in the local area. Funds raised are used to pay for the hire of the space, refreshments, and additional resources such as arts and crafts materials for the group to use. Some members of the group also decided to organise a community wellbeing day as part of mental health awareness week which included a bake sale, raffle, an arts workshop, and poetry reading as well as representation from other local agencies.
The group has become so successful and self-sufficient that it is now being managed by three of the peers who have created their own email address to respond to enquiries about the group. If you have been or are currently a service user of the community mental health teams and are interested in joining the peer support group, you can contact them on: This email address is being protected from spambots.
